Gleyic Acrisols

Gleyic Acrisols have gleyic properties, a layer

of ≥ 25 cm thick and start at the depth of ≤ 40 cm
from the mineral surface. Besides, these soils have

reducing conditions in some parts of every sublayer.

Hin Kong series (Hk) is a representative of
Gleyic Acrisols. Hin Kong series are formed from alluvium

and occur on low terraces of the alluvial plain. Relief
is flat to nearly flat with a micro-relief. Slopes are

about 0-2 percent. They moderately occupy on the
eastern margins of the Central Plain. Drainage is

somewhat poorly drained to poorly drained. They are
deep and characterized by a pale brown or brown

silt loam A horizon, overlying a pale brown, grading
to pinkish-gray silt loam or silty clay loam argillic B

horizon. Soil pH is strongly to moderately acidic soils
(pH 5.0-6.0). In the lower B horizon, reddish mottles

commonly occur and black manganese coatings in
pores or as nodules are found in the argillic B hori-

zon. Soil pH is very strongly to strongly acidic soils
(pH 5.0-5.5). Land use limitations are 30 cm flooding

depth over a period of 3-4 months per year, low
fertility, and poor soil physical properties.
